[i]nnnslogan posting in [i]dfwtx: I need a place to live.

I have to find a place to live in Dallas County immediately to fulfill the terms of my probation agreement. If I don't, I'm pretty much screwed. If you know of a place I could move into quickly that doesn't worry about criminal background checks, or if you know someone who owns a rental property in Dallas County that would let me move in, please let me know ASAP!

I am happily married and have two kittens, so cats need to be okay wherever I go.

THANKS!!!

[i]vulpine137: Nightmares suck

I hate nightmares. I hate insane nightmares at that. Last night, this morning, I had a dream about being at some gather or party, with my cat. My sick cat. My sick cat who've I've never owned, known or seen that I can recall. So at the party, my cat passes away. Sad. So I go looking for my SO, who was my ex from some years ago. She didn't seem to understand that the cat had died, and I didn't want to party. This is a common thing in my dreams, that I have a simple request or something to communicate, and the person I'm talking to just doesn't get it. It's not malicious, it's just like I've stopped speaking English. Finally I got the point across, and we went home. Then I got online, and ended up playing a very hard soccer game with [info]shadowstarr. Then I woke up...and was very sad. Kitties and ferrets are fine, if a little comfused why I was looking so twitchy.

So, now I'm up and watching Mythbusters. Nothing shakes off the bad dreams like Kari Byron. In a few min I'm going to go get some lunch, then recreate a Saturday from my childhood. Back in NY, the local Fox channel would play bad Marital Arts movies Saturday afternoon. I am a huge fan of Golden Harvest and Shaw Studios. Well, I've been slowly getting back into watching them on a regular basis, thanks to Netflix. So, I'm off to get pizza, make an egg creme, and watch people kick each other for a bit. Later I'll be going to see 'Up' with the gang, and hanging out. Should make for a very good day. So, I'll talk to you all later.

What does your ideal lifestyle look like 10 years from now?

Not sure what 'Ideal' means, in my perfect life I'm magically become independently comfortable, financially. I spend my days dealing in rare and collectible books. I'd have a nice enough, not too big, not too small house, with room for all the books, computers and knickknacks. Beyond that, things would mostly be the same. Maybe I'd travel more, but that's about it.

[i]vulpine137: Oh, I forgot...

I have a new godkitten. *grin* Amythest got a new kitten last Sunday from her parents. A little Russian Blue kinda cat, very small, very cute, with a purr that can rattle walls. She's got a very wide head, big ears. Looks vaguely alien, but cute. Also has a kinked tail, which is genetic, since at least one of her littermates has the same kink in the tail. Her name is Prata, which is Polynesian for silver. Her other kitties are slowly adapting to the new bundle of chaos. And Prata is definitely attached to Amythest, last night while I was over the kitten barely left her side. Which is odd, since I have 'CatSlave' tattooed on my head, but I guess that doesn't win out over Amythestness. But yes, much yay for the kitten. Definitely brings some bright sparks into my life.

Oh, for the godkitten reference. For years now, me and Amythest have refered to each others critters as 'godkids'. Cause honestly, her critters are as important to me as my own, and vis versa. And gods forbid, but if something happened to one of us, the other would adopt the critters and take care of them. It's just how we are as friends. *smile*

[i]uhrwerkmensch: [RPG] PDQ# Mecha: Other Worlds

As you might have guessed, the sample character I posted yesterday lives in a "Universal Century" type setting (provisionally called "The Long War: Ganymede Waltz"). It's mostly geared towards telling character-driven war stories in a sci-fi universe on the softer side of the Real Robot genre. (I'm attempting verisimilitude, but not so slavishly that it gets in the way of the characters' narrative - where I believe PDQ actually excels.)

For variety's sake, though, I'm also planning to include a setting that's about as far from Gundam/ZoE as you can get. In fact, it's a supernatural, alt-history mecha setting largely inspired by series such as Sakura Taisen and ... oh, what's that one about diesel and vaccuum-tube mecha in WW2?

I don't want to spoil too much about it, but in a nutshell it's a supernatural mecha 'series' set during the Meiji restoration, where the Imperial forces contracted the European powers for new fighting machines made of steel, steam and clockwork (kurofune). So you have the Emperor's troops pacifying the remains of Tokugawa's followers using steam-powered mecha and mad science, as the traditionalist bushi fight back with shinto magic and the ten thousand kami of Nippon.

The splash image would be a traditional woodblock print of a female ninja standing atop a giant frog god and calling down a storm with a scroll held aloft in her outstretched hands, while a smoke-belching, black iron mecha stomps towards her and in the foreground, a samurai grimaces at the pair as he prepares to draw his swords.

Depending on space, I'd also like to include a riff on the Giant Robo genre, but we'll see. I definately want to make room for an appendix about tuning the system's dials to support your own mecha 'verse.

(At some point, I also need to contact [info]chadu about licensing fees for the PDQ# system and other related business foo, but that can wait until I have more than a collection of vague notes and untested system hacks.)

[i]vulpine137: Thank Cthulhu it's Friday

Well, it's Friday. Thank Cthulhu, I'm so glad this work week is almost over. Just a little under 8 hours, then it's time for pizza, bad movies and video games. Plus the usual ferret time, book time, and sleep.

Had a good night last night, went over to Amythest's place as usual. Watched a couple of episodes of 'Bargain Hunters' on BBCAmerica. Fun little show, not as fun as 'Cash in the Attic' though. Then we watched the premier of Warehouse 13, which looks to be a fairly light hearted mashup of 'Friday the 13th: The Series' and 'X-Files'. Could be good, could be soso... we'll see. Then we watched 'The Closer' which was decent enough, and amusing. Not in a haha kinda way, but there's a part where one character is told 'you're great at picturing the negative in life, but try for once to look for the brightness in things...'. Needless to say that caught my attention (not enough to remember the quote exactly...but I got the gist). Amythest caught it too, and gave me grief about it ;) Yay for friends ;) Came home, went to bed around 11. After working my way though 'The Lancre Witches' series of Discworld novels in a really random order, I'm now doing the 'Night Watch' series in order of publishing, so 'Guards, Guards' is first. One of my favorite Pratchett novels, it doesn't make me laugh out loud as much as some of the novels, but it's very enjoyable to read.

Now at the 'Pit. Hoping today is nice and calm and goes by quick. Hope you all have good days, and I'll babble more later. Ciao.

Anyone else 'torture' their kitties when they're taking a shower?
Polly likes to sit in there with me and I periodically stick my head out at her and say, "Help me Polly! I'm all wet! Water! Help! Help me Pooooos!" and she rushes to me, paws up on the side of the tub, and yells at me.
Then I duck back in.
Lather, rinse, repeat.

I'm so mean.

Quint agrees, looking at me disapprovingly:
